MEDAL (OAM) OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA
We would love to congratulate Rod Woods on recieving a OAM for services in both medicine and waterpolo
Rod is an ex-Olympian (1976 Montréal), junior and senior club coach, long-term volunteer and player (still playing). He’s also a pre-eminent colorectal surgeon having held senior positions in Australia and overseas.
Above all, Rod is a humble, kind and selfless individual who has contributed to the lives of thousands of club members. As a player, we estimate he has played over 1,500 games for Melbourne Collegians, an unofficial record (likely shared with his great mate Scott Emerson). He is a legend of our club and his citation in the Australia Day honours list is worthy recognition of his service.
